needed to further its mission of empowering persons with disabilities through
information, advocacy, and media engagement.

“The seed planted a long time ago has started to germinate, and the vision of
AbilityPlus TV Network is steadily becoming a reality.”

INEC Invitation on Disability Inclusion in Elections

On September 26, the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) invited
AbilityPlus TV Network to participate in a public presentation focused on
Access and Participation for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Electoral Process.

During the engagement, discussions centered on making electoral information
more accessible to persons with disabilities and ensuring that election venues
are designed to accommodate the needs of all citizens. The event provided an
important platform to advocate for equal participation and inclusive democratic processes.

Participation in ActionAid Press Conference

On September 27, AbilityPlus TV Network was officially invited by
ActionAid Nigeria to participate in a press conference under the
Strengthening Citizens Resistance Against Prevalence of Corruption (SCRAP-C) project.

The event brought together stakeholders committed to transparency, accountability,
and citizen participation in governance. As a media representative, AbilityPlus TV Network
was given the opportunity to contribute to discussions on the importance of information
accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The Importance of Accessible Information

During the conference, emphasis was placed on the critical role information plays
in the lives of persons with disabilities, particularly members of the Deaf community.
Access to timely and understandable information remains essential for active participation
in society, civic engagement, and national development.

Many Deaf individuals face challenges accessing news and important public information.
Therefore, there is an urgent need for inclusive communication strategies that ensure
no one is left behind.

“Information is a fundamental right. Every person, regardless of disability,
deserves equal access to news, opportunities, and public services.”

Turning Vision into Reality

The recognition received from both INEC and ActionAid demonstrates the growing impact
of AbilityPlus TV Network’s advocacy efforts. These opportunities highlight the importance
of disability-focused media platforms in promoting inclusion, accessibility, and equal rights.

As AbilityPlus TV Network continues its journey, it remains committed to amplifying
the voices of persons with disabilities and creating a society where inclusion is the norm,
not the exception.

To God be the glory for the progress achieved so far and for the greater accomplishments
that lie ahead.
